Breakfast With the Boyfriend

This morning has been full of surprises. I went on a date with my best friend’s boyfriend…no I’m kidding, I was the third wheel at their anniversary breakfast. Which is not something I or anybody would really expect to enjoy, but you know what? For it being the first time we’ve hung out together, it didn’t go that badly.

I of course showed up almost an hour late (time has never been my friend), but they still hadn’t ordered. Odd, I figured they would have begun to eat by the time I got there, but they hadn’t even ordered. However the reason for this may have been that the boyfriend wasn’t feeling all that hungry, and my best friend well…she loves her boyfriend ‘nuf said.

We ordered food, it magically appeared on the table, we ate, we paid, and now I am home. Somewhere in the middle of all that, conversing occurred, but the details are a little foggy. It is safe to say, that I am shocked at how smoothly it all went. I did not expect to have anything to talk about with my best friend’s boyfriend. When you hear about a person for so long without meeting them, it begins to seem impossible to even be in the same room. Considering all the good and the bad I’ve heard about him (mostly the bad), i find difficult to say “We got along.” But it’s true…this breakfast really happened…I may have just made a new friend lol

*Side Note* If you live in Houston, TX (spring district) never eat at the IHOP next to Outback Steakhouse….bad things happen there when people get bored. Trust me it’s gross :/

Feeling Lonely

AloneSomehow, despite all the good things that happen around you, it is really easy to feel alone. What’s so great about…anything really, if there’s no one else to share it with.

Sometimes, even when you feel strong, you feel weak if there is nobody there to support you. Sure it feels great and all to succeed on you own, but it’s an even better feeling when you know people had your back.

At times, the people closest to you seem distant, or maybe you’re the one who has become alienated…

Damn it, I need to cheer myself up; gotta go listen to those Beatles.

*Side Note* Do you know how hard it is to find an “alone” picture without it being depressing? Everyone that pops up is of someone that looks like they want to cry or like they have no friends. Maybe “lonely” would be a better keyword.

Women, Wrestlers, and Wigs

Whip_It-2009

A week ago I had a dream involving women wrestlers, wigs, and rearranging furniture. It was pretty random; tell me how you like it.

It’s started off with me joining a women’s wrestling team (it reminded me of the women’s roller derby team from the movie “Whip It”). Every member had an alias and it usually involved superheroes and powers; I clearly remember seeing a woman in a short blond wig and cat woman outfit (there was a lot of leather…) in my dream. As a part of the team, I had to dress up too. I went “backstage,” picked out a hot pink wig to wear, put on some bright ass make-up, and finished my ensemble with a tu-tu to match my hair. Part of me was shocked to be in that getup, and part of me was glad no one in the dream would recognize me (even in dreams I am paranoid).

Suddenly the scene changed and I was in an enormous storage room, the size of Walmart. Both my parents were there, and I was telling my dad about my joining the wrestling team. Apparently, he saw no problem with this, he even seemed proud. Even so, my dad proceeded to tell me to focus on my school work. I then turned towards my mom and told her I had been correct in believing he would say that, randomly we all began to laugh.

In the following scene my mother was trying to get our opinion on her new furniture. I told her the room looked great (I didn’t really think so, her red furniture and white furniture were all mixed together), but she didn’t believe me. I finally decided to tell her to put her white furniture on the right side of the room, all in a line, and her red furniture on the left side all in a line. It was the obvious answer to her problem.

There’s more, but this post is getting pretty long. The point is, I have strange dreams and there’s more where that came from. What kind of crazy dreams have you had? I would love to hear them. :)

A World With One Race

Sometimes I like to wonder what the world would be like if we were all a mixed race of one color. It may or may not be possible; after many centuries of “mixing,” we could all start to be born an unvarying color of, just for a visual let’s say, gray. People I have asked think it would be a better world; there would be no more need for racism and we would all be equals in that sense.

However, wouldn’t there be a loss of culture? It would be a shame to lose the wonderful variety we have of music, dance, and traditions that are part of each culture. And even if the world were one race, prejudice would still exist. One way or another people will find a reason to put down another group of people; people  can be such haters.

I guess it’s a matter of opinion…What do you think?

One Day I’ll…

One day…..People (including myself) seem to enjoy putting things off until the last minute. One day I’ll visit my grandma in the retirement home, or one day I’ll give the homeless man on the corner some money. What if one day doesn’t arrive? Then you’ve lived your life as a liar. Never say “One day…”

Today during dinner my mother said, “One day we’ll take my mother out to dinner.” I thought about what she said for a second and almost laughed outright. When my mother says, “One day…” it’s like she’s making a well-intentioned promise she doesn’t plan to keep.

“Mom,” I reminded her, “remember when you said, ‘One day I’ll throw you a party?’ Well, ten years later….” Even she had to laugh. (It took her ten years to throw me a party!)

Never say “One day…” Especially when referring to plans you have for the future. Any dream you have will refrain from becoming reality. One day might be too late.

*Side Note* New Movie “One Day starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess  is coming to theaters August 19!!! Found the movie by accident while looking for pictures. One day…I’m going to watch it! Just kidding, I’m definitely watching it at the premier! ;)
